If you are looking for a peacefully quiet and scenic Disney Resort Port Orleans French DSCN0294
Quarter might be the resort for you. The Port Orleans Resort consists of two separate sections Riverside and French Quarter. We stayed at the French Quarter on our first visit and it is my favorite of the moderate resorts. For newbie Disney fans, Disney resorts are broken down into Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. We have been back to Disney 5 times and have stayed at several different resorts but Port Orleans French Quarter remains at the top of our favorite’s list.

Five Great Reasons to Stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter.

1.) Scenic & Beautiful

The French Quarter is set along the scenic Sassagoula River which winds its way between both sides of the resort. The influence of the New Orleans French Quarter is evident in all the details throughout this quaint resort.

2.) Quiet & PeacefulDSCN0289

The French Quarter offers a  quiet oasis for families. Set away from the epicenter of excitement at the parks, this resort is perfect for families looking for some downtime.

3.) A Perfect Size

The size of the resort made it easy for family to get around.

The French Quarter is the perfect size for young families. It is an easy quick walk to the pool, playground, dining and gift shop from all the rooms.

4.) Water SlideDSCN0290

Water slides, it has come to my attention, are a big factor in choosing a Disney Resort. My children will check out all the resorts on the internet and look for the best water slide. The French Quarter does not disappoint with it’s  sea serpent water slide.

5.) Dining Options

The French Quarter offers a quick service food court, two lounges and a pizza delivery. We loved the Sassagoula Floatworks and Factory Food Court with its fun and lively atmosphere. The Floatworks is a perfect choice if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. The Scat’s Cats Club offers live Jazz music on select nights and adds to the New Orleans feel of the resort.

6.) Waterway TransportationDSCN0288

You can take advantage of the waterway transportation and visit Downtown Disney or the Riverside section of the Resort. It is an exciting time at Downtown Disney as there are many renovations project underway and it is just a quick boat ride from The French Quarter. If you find yourself looking for more you can also visit Riverside which offers two pools,  more dining options, and a bigger gift shop.

7.) Walking Running PathDSCN0284

There is a nice walking/ running path that connects the two hotels. My youngest daughter was only one when we visited and I took her on the path for a nightly stroll to put her to sleep.

8.) Bus Transportation

You can access all of the WDW parks on the Walt Disney World Bus Transportation
System. Unless you are staying at a deluxe resort on the monorail all the resorts use Walt Disney World Transportation System. Everyone raves about the monorail but when I stayed on the monorail I didn’t think it was that much better than the bus system. The monorail only goes in one direction and you had to wait for them too. Wait times for busses vary but my own experience is about 10-20 minutes. However there were a few times we waited almost 30 minutes for transportation from the park back to a hotel.

9.) Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides

A quaint way to enjoy the scenery you can take a horse-drawn carraige ride along the banks of the Sasassagoula River.

10.) Recently Renovated

Since my visit all the rooms at the French Quarter have been renovated. The project was completed in 2011. Click here for a complete look at the updates
