To Flu Shot or Not to Flu Shot

It’s flu season again which also means it is flu shot season. Flu shots can be a hotly debated topic. People definitely have very strong opinions about vaccinations and whether they should let their children be vaccinated.

Years ago when my daughter was two she had a high fever and I took her to the doctor. The doctor gave her a flu test, which shocked me because I had never heard of that before, and it came back positive. She was curious why I hadn’t brought her in earlier for a flu shot. Truthfully, I had no idea about flu shots back then and didn’t even realize she was old enough to get one. Turns out that flu shots are recommended for everyone 6 months and older. Since then my husband and I have decided to get flu shots for all of us.

Protecting my family from the flu is important to me. In addition to keeping the family happy and healthy through the winter it also is vital for my grandmother who is 94. It would be very dangerous for my grandmother if she was to catch the flu and my kids are always with her.

In order to get vaccinated this year I went to CVS Minute Clinic. It was my very first time visiting the CVS Minute Clinic and it was such a positive experience. I had no idea that there were actual medical clinics inside CVS Stores. I am there anyway buying beauty products, greeting cards, and all my pharmacy needs why not visit the Minute Clinic.

It was so quick and easy. The hardest part was signing in on the touch screen kiosk. There was only one person on line ahead of my husband and I. We were in and out in less than ten minutes. The actual shot was painless and the nurse practitioner we
saw was extremely professional.

The shot may have been painless but the ribbing I was getting from my husband was not. Enjoy the video showing my quick and painless flu shot at CVS Minute Clinic and a few giggles while I get teased by my husband who apparently is now a comedian.
